Iranian director Farnoush Abedi’s animation ‘The Servant’ has been scheduled to compete at the 18th edition of the San Francisco Black Film Festival (SFBFF) in the US.
The animation tells the tale of a giant cockroach who gets tired of his servitude to man; a game started with no rules.
‘The Servant’ previously won the Best Animation award at the 33rd Tehran International Short Film Festival held on 8-14 November 2016 in Tehran.
The Iranian animation has also won an award at the 14th London Independent Film Festival in the UK.
SFBFF is aimed to celebrate African American cinema and the African cultural Diaspora and to showcase a diverse collection of films – from emerging and established filmmakers.
This was accomplished by presenting films, which reinforce positive images and dispel negative stereotypes, and by providing film artists from the bay area in particular and around the world in general, a forum for their work to be viewed and discussed.
The 18th edition of the SFBFF is slated for June 15-18, 2017, in San Francisco, the US.
